Palladium Directors are tasked with
leading the growth of the business by successfully securing and delivering a
portfolio of contracts. Success in the role is measured primarily by the volume
of new business secured; growth in the commercial contribution of the portfolio
to the business; and the effective utilisation of staff resources.
Directors play
a critical role in the development of Palladium’s business, as the primary
client-facing representatives of the company. They are expected to develop
trusted relations with their clients by
understanding
their needs; addressing those needs in market leading proposals; and delivering
services to meet their expectations.
Directors also
ensures that our projects are delivered to client requirements and Palladium
quality standards; that the projects deliver against forecast; and that
technical solutions remain at the forefront of industry requirements.
It is critical
that Directors are entrepreneurial in approach – adapting service offerings to
meet the changing needs of clients; expanding the range of clients serviced;
and enhancing Palladium’s reputation of being unwaveringly relied upon to
deliver in any environment.
The Director,
Economic Growth will be responsible for leading the expansion and
diversification of the Economic Growth portfolio as Palladium looks to
identify, grow and expand our pipeline of new projects funded by the FCDO and
beyond.

based in Palladium’s London office.

Reporting
Lines:
The role reports to the UKA Regional
Director who in turn report to Palladium’s Global CEO. Reporting requirements
include:
Attendance at
all management and team meetings and any others as required;
Weekly update
calls to your line manager;
A monthly
management report on your KPI’s as well as any other important areas of
concern;
Exception
reports as and when required; and
Any other
reporting request as dictated by your client and line manager.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of the Director, Economic Growth, is to drive business growth. He/she must lead the acquisition of new contracts to maintain the growth of their portfolio, acting as Capture Directors or Capture Managers accordingly, and mobilising teams and partners to prepare winning proposals. Responsibilities include:
Lead EGGE’s strategic business development with key clients including FCDO and other UK government departments
·o Map key stakeholders within FCDO and across Whitehall and align these to existing and future technical areas for Palladium
·o Continuous networking and relationship cultivation with key clients, bringing in relevant portfolio leads as appropriate
·o Identification of marketing and networking opportunities including conferences, industry events, brown-bag lunches, and leading on positioning of Palladium at these events
·o Identification of new business opportunities at an early stage, including early-stage opportunities in-country, and development of subsequent capture plans
·o Influencing and shaping future procurement opportunities within FCDO, including opportunities for sole-sourcing, scoping activities and provision of pro-bono inputs ahead of major business opportunities
·o Identify new clients outside FCDO, including Departments across Whitehall, other donors and non-donor clients, and develop pipeline of new opportunities within these clients
·o Develop strategic relationships with both new and existing partners
·o Lead and/or provide inputs to bids, particularly bids of strategic importance, within the EGGE team and beyond
·o Identify, develop and market new business propositions, liaising with other business lines within Palladium as appropriate
Project Leadership:
·o Delivering projects against client expectations, maintaining Palladium’s stellar performance records.
·o Delivering projects according to financial forecast and maintaining, or increasing, project income targets.
·o Providing technical leadership and quality assurance oversight for the implementation of our projects including as Project Director on individual projects.
People Management:
·o Coach and engage staff by implementing Palladium’s Performance Excellence framework for all line reports, spotting and retaining talent and mentoring team members.
·o Engage actively in the leadership of the partnership to drive business goals.
·o Model appropriate culture and behaviours including observance of our guiding principles and desirable behaviour, as well as complying with procedures and respecting internal deadlines
Identifies, builds, and maintains relationships with partners and consultants that provide technical expertise to both proposals and/or projects
Acts as main point of contact for regular communication to all stakeholders.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Essential Criteria:
Depth of experience in one or more technical fields related to economic growth
Substantial experience in marketing of services and developing business plans.
Proven experience in tendering and bid development for large scale projects.
Strong networks within FCDO and other donors, and experience of leveraging these relationships to win new business
Strong track record in business acquisition, including on major FCDO bids
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent inter-personal skills, and a strong client focus
Ability to manage, lead and mentor teams of people
Experienced thought leadership, including presenting at conferences, round tables and other industry events
Significant gravitas and proven ability to influence decision makers at the highest levels
Financial acumen and the ability to interpret and analyse financial reports.
Willingness to travel and work abroad
Desirable Criteria:
Experience working in a developing country.
Professional working proficiency in another language, with priority given to Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Arabic
