Director, Business Planning
Microsoft's Monetization and Business Planning organization directs our commercial portfolio's pricing, packaging, licensing, channel, and monetization strategies. Few teams exist that have such a direct impact on Microsoft and the entire industry. As cloud services, the consumerization of IT, and the emergence of born-in-cloud competitors continue to transform the global IT market, evolving Microsoft’s core go-to-market strategy to be cloud-centric is vital. Our modern commerce and purchasing experience strategy will allow us to deliver new and exciting business models, introduce cloud-integrated customer experiences, and simplify how Microsoft online services are purchased and consumed through modern sales motions. As **Director, Business Planning** , you will work with teams across Marketing and Sales to understand their business needs for new commerce capabilities and make strategic recommendations to our Chief Marketing Officer on our commence investment priorities. You will also be responsible for driving our commercial business model roadmap for 1 st and 3 rd party marketplaces. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond. **Responsibilities** + Attract, retain, and grow your team as a manager and support a diverse and inclusive team culture. + Strategically prioritize commerce initiatives that ensure the highest return on investment (ROI) for Microsoft’s commercial business. + Enable the successful transition of customers to the Microsoft New Commerce Experience through proactively defining and prioritizing missing capabilities. + Coach your team to develop business capabilities to enact strategy; turn business problems into thoughtful business requirements and ensure successful execution and value realization. + Build business cases to influence strategic decision making on business models, business policies, and purchasing experiences. + Work with executives and their organizations to foster cross-discipline collaboration, alignment and One-Microsoft business outcomes. + Create concise and impactful presentations and targeted communications as required to drive new strategies. + Lead with trust, embracing and valuing diverse perspectives and ideas. + Embody our culture and values . **Qualifications** **Required/Minimum Qualifications** + 7+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience + OR equivalent experience. + 3+ years experience managing and influencing executive stakeholders. **Additional or Preferred Qualifications** + 12+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Computer Science, Economics, Business, or related field + OR 8+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), or related field + OR equivalent experience. + 5+ years people management experience. + Understanding and experience working in commercial cloud businesses, either in the industry or at Microsoft. + Storytelling skills, executive presence, and ability to influence at all levels. + Experience engaging with engineering stakeholders to gain credibility and partnership quickly. + A track record of effectively influencing and working across stakeholders to define and execute initiatives with passion, precision, and excellence. + Strategic thinking and ability to learn, understand and connect complex business models quickly. Business Planning M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $251,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $272,300 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
