Purpose and Objective:
Ariba, Inc. seeks a Developer at our Palo Alto, CA location responsible for development focusing on design, coding, testing, and quality assurance of specific SAP product features in a development team.
Expectations and Tasks:
Design, build and deploy highly scalable cloud-based Java applications. Design and build rest APIs. Collaborate and innovate with Product, Design, and other engineering teams to deliver seamless and consistent user experience. Analyze and solve issues in existing and new code. Demonstrate full responsibility for accepted tasks and a high level of quality, speed, reliability and efficiency. Work closely together with other team members to ensure team success. Enhance skills beyond own core functional focus and work on other tasks for the benefit of the team. Provide application implementation services typically within the boundaries of specifications and project plans. Design activities include requirements analysis and design documentation. Implementation activities include implementation, testing and integration. Maintenance activities include error analysis and removal. Extends, modifies or adapts existing designs but may also be involved in the development of new (sub-)systems. If acting as Scrum Master in the LEAN context, responsible for promoting and supporting Scrum by helping everyone understand Scrum theory, practices, rules, and values. Serves as 'servant-leader' for the Product Owner and the Development Team. Facilitates Scrum Events on request or as required. Coaches the Development Team in self-organization. Removes impediments to the Development Team's progress.
Education and Occupational Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field of study and five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation. Alternatively, a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field of study and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
Qualifications/Skills and Competencies Experience:
Experience must involve two (2) years in the following:
Design, build, and support high-volume web applications with scalability and high availability;
Develop on Relational Database Management Systems including Oracle and SAP HANA;
Utilize JDBC, JPA, Hibernate, SQL, PL/SQL, schema design, and query optimization;
Backend development using OOP language including Java and microservice framework including Spring boot, and Spring cloud;
Respond, analyze, and resolve customer escalation and production issues;
Utilize Cloud-Native operational and monitoring tools including Datadog, Dynatrace, or Splunk;
Complete product development life cycle (PDLC);
Design and build RESTful API with JSON, XML, DTD, and Event-based architecture including Kafka and Caching;
Utilize Junit, Karma test framework, and code coverage; and
Continuous integration tools including Maven, Docker, Jenkins, IntelliJ IDEA, and Git.

Compensation Range Transparency: The annual base salary range for this position is $151,079 - $178,740. SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is $151,079 - $198,600. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
