Department Manager in Peptide Discovery

The position 
You will lead a team dedicated to early technology innovation and project ideation. The department works with peptides across all Novo Nordisk therapeutic areas, with a strong focus on agonistic peptides within incretin and amylin biology.  
 
Your responsibilities include: 

Cultivating a motivating and empowering work environment, focusing on individual development and accountability  Co-developing a future-ready setup for ideation and technology development in the peptide modality space  Overseeing and prioritizing resources in cross-portfolio projects from ideation to pre-clinical stages  Ensuring and supporting optimal cross-functional collaboration across the organization

Qualifications 
You let your passion for science and drug discovery shine, naturally setting strategic directions and business targets for the department. You are a cultural role model who leads by example to ensure a sustainable and engaging working environment.  
 
To thrive and succeed in the role, we expect you to have: 

A Ph.D. in life sciences (or alternatively a master’s degree with relevant industrial research experience)  At least 5 years of relevant industrial experience within early drug discovery and ideation  A talent for driving and fostering innovation with close alignment to business strategies and objectives

About the department 
The department consists of ten highly skilled employees, seven scientists at various levels and three experienced laboratory technicians. The department was formed recently with the ambition to further strengthen the technological impact on the early project portfolio. Therefore, you will be instrumental in ensuring the success of this new department, fostering an environment where people thrive and excel. 
 
Peptide Discovery is anchored within the CVP area Peptide Research, which is responsible for the peptide modality across all therapy areas from idea to FHD. 
Peptide Research is part of the SVP area Therapeutics Discovery & Accelerated Execution (TDAE), which falls under Research and Early Development (R&ED)
