Requisition ID: req58047 Job Title: Communications Consultancy – IRC VPRU Sector: Violence Prevention and Response Employment Category: Consultant Employment Type: Full-Time Open to Expatriates: Yes Location: IRC Global Work Arrangement: Job Description Purpose The purpose of this individual consultancy is to deliver the Communications Strategy and support the creation of communications materials and activities for grantee partners and the Project consortium as a whole. Deliverables The consultant's deliverables for this consultancy are as follows: • Work Plan: a detailed workplan outlining measurable and achievable milestones and outputs of the consultancy (inclusive of a production schedule for standard/standing updates such as to the website and newsletter). • Once-monthly Advocacy and Communications Working Group calls • Quarterly Newsletters for the duration of the Consultancy • Grantee and Consoritum partner blogs for the Project website (no fewer than one/month) • Talking Points and Agendas for External Meetings (as appropriate and determined with Policy/Advocacy lead) • Online meetings with grantees (as necessary/appropriate) • Capacity strengthening trainings/webinars for grantees (as necessary/appropriate) • Final Report: A comprehensive final report detailing communications activities undertaken as part of the Project consortium under this consultance, inclusive of activities, outcomes, lessons learnt, and recommendations for future improvements. Qualifications and Expertise The ideal consultant should possess the following qualifications: • A degree in Communications and/or a degree in International Development, Policy, social sciences, gender studies or a related field with at least 5 years of work experience in Communications as the major or key component of that work. • Proven experience in delivering against a Communications Strategy. • Proven experience delivering high-quality communications materials (such as blogs, newsletters, talking points, etc.) and experience working with media and preparing others to do so. • Clear understanding of feminist and womn’s rights CSOs and feminist movements (with preferred experience working with feminist movements and grassroots organizations across Africa or MENA, particularly in Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Jordan, or Lebanon). • Ability to distill key insights and messages from complex research and learnings. • Self-starter with ability to work within a complex consortium-based initiative. • Fluency in English is mandatory; fluency in French is preferred. This is a remote position. Any travel costs, if a travel is requested, will be covered by the Project. Supervision will be handled primarily by the International Rescue Committee. The Communications Consultant will report to the IRC’s Global Lead for Protection Policy and Advocacy, and will closely collaborate with the Project Director and others on the Project Team. Regular communication and updates will be necessary throughout the consultancy period. The consultant should be open to feedback and promptly address any inquiries or clarifications from the Project Consortium. Consortium partners will support and facilitate connections and communications between the grantee partners, individual-level consultants, and the consultant to ensure the seamless implementation of communications goals and strategies.
