SUMMARY
The Chief Credit Officer (CCO) is responsible for the overall management of the Banks' Credit Risk Management function; develops, maintains, and communicates a credit strategy for the organization appropriate for meeting the Company's agreed upon goals and objectives. This position will lead the Credit Risk Management team and work with the Chief Banking Officer's organization and key stakeholders to facilitate the origination of new loans and management of the existing portfolio, including the oversight of the Bank's credit quality. Additionally, this position assists the Bank in meeting its overall business plan goals and maximizing loan profitability within risk appetite limitations of the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develops, implements, and maintains credit policies and procedures appropriate to manage risk within the company's Risk Appetite for commercial and consumer lending.Develops and communicates credit strategy for the organization in partnership with the Chief Banking Officer and other key stakeholders, in line with the Company’s agreed upon goals and objectives.Conducts routine team meetings with key stakeholders in areas of responsibility to ensure alignment and engagement.Develops credit risk appetite to promote the strategic direction of the Bank in conjunction with the Enterprise Risk Management program.Partners with Chief Banking Officer and Chief Human Resources Officer to develop and deploy ongoing credit training programs for credit risk and banking teams.Serves as a strategic leader and advocate of the Bank’s credit culture, ensuring it is understood by all key stakeholders and consistent with management’s standards and expectations.Develops, implements, and maintains an appropriate Credit Portfolio Management program that includes reporting and analysis to monitor credit performance for management, the Bank Board, and the Risk Committee of the Board of Directors.Develops, implements, and monitors loan policies, procedures, and practices; reports to the organization's Management, Bank Board, and Holding Company Board risk related committees.Participates in the Bank’s ACL Committee as a voting member to ensure reserves are timely and appropriate based on the environment and quality of the loan book.Maintains the highest individual loan authority, as granted by the Bank Board, up to the house limit.Ensures credits are structured to align with the Bank’s Credit Policy guidelines and client needs, in conjunction with lending teams.Manages the Special Assets Group that coordinates commercial work-out loans and strategies.Interfaces directly with banking regulators, as needed.Coordinates preparation and distribution of accurate credit information covering loan quality trends, growth trends, and loan product concentrations on a timely basis.Leads credit diligence teams to review credit portfolio of any potential bank acquisitions.Ensures compliance with state and federal regulatory guidelines.Works closely with the legal counsel to expeditiously resolve litigation while minimizing legal and collection expenses.


MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage direct reports including Appraisal, Credit, and Special Assets Officers.Hires, supervises, evaluates, mentors, and develops team.Performs personnel actions to include performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and interviewing candidates for employment.Supervises the daily activities of the team to include delegation of assignments, development of work schedules to meet required timelines, and ensures training is completed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Thorough knowledge of loan documentation requirements, loan underwriting guidelines, loan negotiations, and regulatory issues.Thorough knowledge of banking and lending strategies.Advanced knowledge of the loan market and various industry (OCC and FDIC) regulations.Demonstrated proficiency in using Microsoft Office software, including Internet Explorer, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.Effective verbal and written communication skills to include the ability to speak effectively to groups.Ability to read and correctly interpret rules, regulations, policies, and procedures that relate to all bank products.Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Applies superior decision-making techniques pertaining to inquiries, approvals, and requests as they apply to existing policies and procedures, keeping within assigned approval limits.Maintains knowledge of financial industry, economy, market conditions, rates, vendors, and competition.Working knowledge of the accounting and SEC reporting principles, including related impacts of credit decisions and other financial matters and financial statement disclosures.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field required10+ years direct credit and supervisory experience in commercial lending, real estate and construction lending, and/or SBA and agricultural lending required
