Our medical devices help more than 10,000 people have healthier hearts, improve quality of life for thousands of people living with chronic pain and movement disorders, and liberate more than 500,000 people with diabetes from routine fingersticks. Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive, and cost-effective products for the treatment of vascular disease. As a Buyer I, will execute activities involved with procuring goods and services (e.g. equipment, tools, parts, supplies) and ensures that items and services purchased are of high quality, on time and at the lowest total price. Develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are inadequate. **What** **You’ll** **Do** + Interacts with suppliers by phone or service providers in person to negotiate activities involved with procuring materials and service. + Requests bids from new suppliers by personal contact and/or phone to ensure the best price for materials. + Maintains manual and/or computerized records of activities (e.g., items/services purchased, costs, delivery, travel patterns, product quality/performance and inventories) to provide accurate information source. + Identifies invoice discrepancies (e.g., duplicate billing, price differences, quantity errors) by researching process steps and/or interfacing with appropriate departments to resolve the problem. Processes purchase requests by accessing database and assigning a number to the order to provide an information source for tracking the order. + Assists internal and external customers by answering questions and assisting in solving their problems so they can perform within established guidelines (i.e., Good Manufacturing Practices, CPPs). **Required** **Qualifications** + Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Science or Equivalent Degree. + Position requires sufficient technical knowledge to interface effectively with Engineering, Quality, Engineering, R & D Manufacturing, Cost Accounting, Finance, Suppliers, Legal and Regulatory. Emphasis on technical and business aspects to insure proper purchasing practices. + Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills in both English and Spanish + Knowledge of common office applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
