**The Job**
The Business Development Manager is a proactive sales role focused on driving new business and expanding the Lisbon Marriott Hotel’s presence within the international MICE segment. This position requires strong prospection skills, with a primary focus on identifying new accounts, securing untapped business opportunities, and developing long term client relationships. The role involves close collaboration with the EBC and Events teams to increase conversion, active participation in site inspections, and travel to represent the hotel at client meetings and industry events. While the core focus is MICE, the role may also support other hotel segments as needed, always with the goal of maximizing revenue and positioning the hotel as a top destination for group business.
Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager. Follow all company policies and procedures; ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets. Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards; anticipate and address guests’ service needs; thank guests with genuine appreciation. Speak with others using clear and professional language; prepare and review written documents accurately and completely; answer telephones using appropriate etiquette. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees. Read and visually verify information in a variety of formats; stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 10 pounds without assistance. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.

Guest Relations
+ Welcome and acknowledge each and every guest with a smile, eye contact, and a friendly verbal greeting, using the guest's name when possible.
+ Actively listen and respond positively to guest questions, concerns, and requests using brand or property specific process (e.g., LEARN, PLEASED, Guest Response, LEAP) to resolve issues, delight, and build trust.
+ Address guests' service needs in a professional, positive, and timely manner.
+ Thank guests with genuine appreciation and provide a fond farewell.
+ Anticipate guests' service needs, including asking questions of guests to better understand their needs and watching/listening to guest preferences and acting on them whenever possible.
+ Assist other employees to ensure proper coverage and prompt guest service.
Communication
+ Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, guests, and team members.
+ Use appropriate sales and brand communication techniques during all client interactions, presentations, and follow-ups.
+ Share relevant client and booking information with internal departments to ensure smooth handovers and service delivery.
+ Respond to emails, calls, and inquiries promptly, maintaining a high standard of professional etiquette.
Working with Others
+ Build strong collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, especially the Events, EBC, and Revenue teams.
+ Support co-workers in achieving shared sales and service goals.
+ Actively participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving sales effectiveness.
+ Treat all colleagues with professionalism, respect, and courtesy.
Physical Tasks
+ Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 10 pounds without assistance.
Sales
+ Proactively identify and pursue new international MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events) opportunities.
+ Develop and maintain a pipeline of potential clients aligned with hotel revenue goals.
+ Represent the Lisbon Marriott Hotel at trade shows, client meetings, and networking events.
+ Conduct site inspections and sales calls to support lead conversion.
+ Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., EBC, Events, Revenue) to ensure client needs are met and revenue is maximized.
+ Maintain accurate records of all sales activities and client interactions in designated Marriott systems (e.g., SFAWeb, Opera…).Use sales techniques that maximize revenue while maintaining existing guest loyalty to Marriott.
**What are we looking for?**
Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business, Marketing, or a related field. High level of English proficiency (written and spoken) required. Additional languages are a strong advantage.
At least 4 years of related work experience.
No supervisory experience is required.
