Under the guidance of a Team Lead, the Bioassay Development Co-Op will be responsible for assisting with a number of potency assays in the lab. This position reports to the Sr Scientist, Bioassay Development and is part of the biopharmaceutical operations team located in Vancouver BC and will be an on-site role.

What you'll do

Refer to available literature to prepare study plans and participate in experimental design, problem-solving and technical discussions. Use routine bioassay techniques to characterize nanoparticle formulations and assess their potency. Design and perform experiments to analyze the in vitro potency of drug formulations using standard techniques detailed below. Prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), reports and technical presentations. Assist with daily tasks in the lab such as maintenance, buffer preparation, ordering, etc. 

Who you are

A third- or fourth-year undergrad student studying Biology, Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology, Chemical and Biological Engineering, or relevant disciplines with hands-on experience in the laboratory is preferredGeneral knowledge of bioassay techniques Must be resourceful, flexible, detail-oriented, organized and with excellent communication skills. Be able to work both as a team and independently with minimum supervision. An interest in drug delivery and genetic medicines

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

Experience with standard molecular biology techniques such as Western blots, ELISA, gel electrophoresis, qPCR, etc., is an assetHands on experience with maintaining cell cultures and standard tissue culture techniques is an asset. Experience with nanoparticle chemistry and fundamentals is an asset

The salary range for this role is 45-50k CAD. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
