The Opportunity

This position works out of our Plymouth, MN site in the Structural Heart division.

Abbott's Structural Heart business mission is to restore health and improve quality of life through the design and provision of device and management solutions for the treatment of structural heart disease.

As the Machine Design Technician II, you will be responsible for the construction and repair of manufacturing fixtures and automated equipment. This work includes mechanical, electrical and pneumatic component assembly. This role will work with engineers, machinists, leads and the customer in order to complete the build process.

What You’ll Work On

Layout and wire electrical control panels

Construct mechanical assemblies

Assemble pneumatic circuits

Troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment

Collaborate with engineers to solve assembly issues

Verify dimensions of parts, using precision measuring instruments, to ensure that specifications are met

Install electronic parts and hardware, using soldering equipment and hand tools

Stay on task in order to meet project schedule


Qualifications

Ability to understand electrical and instrumentation equipment

Skills to operate Drill Press, Band Saw and other machining equipment

Ability to terminate and troubleshoot instrumentation devices

Troubleshoot and repair control panel wiring and associated devices

Understand how to read electrical schematics.

Be able to work on electrical systems ranging from 5vdc to 480 VAC

Understanding of pneumatic components

Ability to read pneumatic schematics

Experience working with hand and power tools

Understand and troubleshoot mechanical components and assemblies

Capability to build mechanical assemblies using mechanical drawings

Willingness to work overtime to meet build schedules

The base pay for this position is $23.25 – $46.55 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
