Associate – Labour & Employment Law
About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic Associate with 3–5 years of experience to join a growing Labour & Employment law team based in Mumbai. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Indian labour laws, hands-on experience with compliance frameworks, and the ability to assess both legal and financial implications of employment structures.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-impact mandates involving compensation structuring, policy advisory, large-scale workforce transitions, and regulatory compliance under the evolving labour law regime in India.

Key Responsibilities

Review compensation structures to assess obligations under PF, ESI, gratuity, and other statutory schemes

Analyse employment arrangements and estimate financial impact of the New Labour Codes

Advise clients on restructuring salary components in line with evolving labour laws

Conduct legal research and provide strategic insights on labour law compliance

Review and draft employment contracts, HR policies, termination agreements, and internal guidelines

Conduct labour law due diligence for M&A, business restructuring, and corporate transactions

Perform compliance audits and develop SOPs for statutory and regulatory compliance

Provide advisory support on matters relating to contract labour, retrenchment, and workplace safety

Assist in handling large-scale employee exits, severance planning, and VRS strategies

Liaise with clients during inspections and regulatory inquiries

Stay updated on legislative developments, government notifications, and judicial precedents

Qualifications & Skills

LL.B. from a recognized institution

3–5 years of post-qualification experience in employment/labour law

In-depth understanding of Indian labour and employment laws and statutory frameworks

Familiarity with financial implications of compensation structuring and labour code changes

Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills

Effective communicator with client advisory experience

Prior experience with due diligence, compliance audits, or labour litigation is a plus
