We have an exciting opportunity for anAssistant Engineering Managerto become part of our amazing Engineering team. In this hands-on role, you’ll help deliver a high level of professional expertise and ensure our hotel is maintained and aligned with our Hyatt Brand Standards. We're looking for someone with strong technical knowledge of hotel plant and machinery, who’s just as comfortable getting “on the tools” as they are in helping to lead the team.
The Role
Support the Engineering Manager in the daily operations of the Engineering Maintenance department to ensure the safety and comfort of our guests and colleagues
Safeguard the integrity of the hotel building, plant, and equipment through general, routine, and preventive maintenance, as well as compliance with building regulations
Work alongside the Maintenance manager with the empowerment to lead a team of maintenance professionals - Assign, track and follow up on status of work assigned to staff
Oversee contractors and ensure all hotel projects and upgrades are completed to the highest standards
Work closely with the Engineering Manager to maintain standards for Workplace Health Safety, EarthCheck, and HACCP
Ensure compliance with brand standards and all relevant federal, state, and local regulations
Assist with departmental budgeting, capital expenditure, energy conservation, and preventive maintenance
Attend to operational requests from departments to ensure the hotel meets its working order targets
Champion the Preventive Maintenance Program and oversee all building compliance tasks
Ensure Room Maintenance Inspection checks are completed and act as an ambassador for Hyatt’s maintenance systems and processes
The Person
Trade background/certification in HVAC, mechanical, electrical, or plumbing
Relevant experience in hotel environment is highly regarded
Creative thinker with a solutions-focused mindset
Strong problem-solving skills and exceptional attention to detail
Flexibility to work various shifts as required by the business
Ability to be on call after hours and attend the hotel outside of hours/if in emergency as needed
High level of written and verbal communication
Ability to meet timelines and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
